The Birthday's Begin With A Bang!!

We had a BLAST last night celebrating someone very special's 7th birthday!!  Hope you had fun LK as we sure had fun with you!!

Sorry no photos of the dance party; technically speaking we think it had something to do with the spinning coloured lights and glow sticks.  LOL!

HELLO COMPUTER!! Week 3

Today we reviewed the first two classes talking about electricity and the components of a computer.  Then we moved onto discussions of networks and the internet.  Ask the kids about how messages are relayed across computers in a common language...hint hint we played a game where the "right" messages were delivered to the "right" place and a special message was received!!  All kids left ready to ask Mom or Dad to show them where their "Router" is and can talk about the differences between a simple network and the internet.

The last half of the class each child planned and drew out their robot project for next week.  We will make "artbots" to take home.  Check out some of the cool ideas below!!

HELLO COMPUTER!! WEEK 2

Such a great class today! A lot of fun first imagining what the components are in a computer and then opening one up to really look and touch!
CPU, memory, heat sink, mother board, disk drives, power supply, fans, wires etc etc etc!
Then everyone got to grab a screwdriver and open up an old style calculator! The big challenge was for the kids to ensure the calculator worked again after they put everything back together!
What fun?!! Can't wait for next weeks class!!!

HELLO COMPUTER!! Getting ready!

Getting ready for the HELLO COMPUTER 2nd class tomorrow! Kids let's open up some old computers and poke around!! Oh...don't forget the old printing calculators we will first be tap, tap, tapping on (to fun music...cause who doesn't want to do that?!!) and then also opening up!!!

Thanking our lucky stars!! DRIVE PRODUCTS you rock!!

This week was exciting! A couple of parents came to our rescue as we were on the look out for old electronics to open up and learn about!!
In particular we want to thank Kim and Mike Edmonds who opened up their shop at DRIVE PRODUCTS. Not only did we hit an old technology jackpot but we got the coolest tour ever of Mike's operation at the Drive Products head office in Mississauga!
Best Day EVER!!! Thank you Mike!!
